Our Sponsorship

"This historic event captures the extremes of emotion that follow success and failure in sport and business - unbridled elation or bitter disappointment."

As the title sponsor, we are particularly proud to be part of this legendary event, as it provides a platform to demonstrate some of the finest young international rowing talent in the build up to the 2012 London Olympics. From its humble beginnings as an amateur event 182 years ago, The Xchanging Boat Race is today one of the most internationally recognised British sporting events with a growing TV audience around the world. For the second year running, the BBC will transmit The Xchanging Boat Race live on BBC America, taking this exhilarating event to more than 68 million American viewers. The 2011 crews include the biggest concentration of home grown oarsmen and undergraduates for many years. We are greatly inspired by the hard work and commitment of the crew members, the coaches and the training support teams. The margin between the winning and losing crew is constantly narrowing; these 'margins' are not always reflected in the finish line verdict on race day. They are largely decided by the months of training and preparation put in during the build up to race day.

Training for The Xchanging Boat Race is their business. In our business the margin between winning and losing is just as tight. Competing companies with similar capabilities are also constantly looking for that elusive element that makes them the winner. A winning business will plan and prepare as a team. They train and rehearse to ensure they execute with a common purpose. This is vital as competitive pressures increase year-on-year, just as it does for the Boat Race crews.

"Both clubs are constantly finding innovative ways to get their boats faster, whether this is down to their physical preparation, their mental training in the build up, or through investment in the latest equipment and highest quality coaching staff - it all counts when finding the vital inches that make the difference between winning and losing. It is this professional approach, and such phenomenally high standards that we at Xchanging are so proud to be associated with."
